What is fueling this increase? Television, as we have seen, and in particular the World Poker Tour, of course are whetting the public's appetite for poker. They see an online player like Juha Helppi parley a tournament win into the Aruba championship and they want to check out this online stuff for themselves.

Publicity from the World Series of Poker helps, too, when they see an online "ordinary Joe" player like Chris Moneymaker turn a $40 entry to an online tournament into $2.5 million and national fame. I'm on a number of Internet mailing lists plus and I regularly monitor.
