Quite easy to learn and within the shortest possible time, one can be a master of the game. Poker is one of the few forms of wagering where you can actually win. Because it is played player against players and not just against the dealer as in Blackjack. Although a large number of poker variations exists but the basic rules of all poker games are same. If you learn one game then you can easily learn the other games. However, the basic poker rules are following.

  • Poker game begins with a BLIND BET. It is made by two players, before receiving any cards. Each player seated in the game takes a turn at placing such a wager.
  • After the blind bets, each player is given 2 face down cards. These cards are called the hole cards or pocket cards. Now the first betting round starts.
  • When the first betting round ends, the dealer turns over three face up cards on the table. These cards are called community cards. Players will complete their hands with their 2 hole cards and three community cards or Flop. Another betting round starts.
  • In this betting round the player on the left of the dealer starts and it continues to the left. In this round a player can either call, raise or fold, if there is a bet on the table. If there is no bet on the table then a player can make the bet or check.
  • Now another community card is given to the players. This card is called Turn. Now another betting round starts. In this round the bet amount becomes equal to the maximum table bet.
  • Now dealer turns over another face up card. This is called River. Now the final betting round starts. Players now complete their best hands with 2 hole cards and 5 community cards. The highest hand wins the game.
